Museum of Toronto is a not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 2014. It connects Torontonians to the city and to each other. For over a decade, we have defined how Toronto communities tell, share, and learn about our unique and ever-evolving city through our histories and aspirations for the future.
Visitor Experience Ambassadors are an integral part of the overall guest experience at Museum of Toronto. These individuals are posted throughout the gallery engaging in such duties as greeting guests, signing guests in, exhibition wayfinding and supporting our programs onsite and off site. All team members act as role models for outstanding customer service standards, both within the museum and events or activations throughout the city.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Museum of Toronto’s vision, mission, and values.
- Consistently provide seamless and welcoming behaviours at all posts:
- Focus on high-energy greeting by going to the guest
- Engage guests and ask the right opening questions to understand what the guest needs. “Where are you visiting from?” “Have you been to our Museum before?”
- Thank guests for visiting and impact their decision to visit again
- The following are examples of duties performed by Visitor Experience Ambassadors:
- Accurately and efficiently guide guests throughout the building
- Assist guests to register with their email at the kiosks.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize a computerized point-of-sale system:
- Successfully complete sign-in training
- Accurately bank in and bank out their cash till at the start and close of their shifts.
- After training, expertly attend the Information Desk and the wide variety of guest needs
- Other service posts as assigned as business needs arise.
- Support visitor experience using proactive engagement tactics in gallery
- Demonstrate active participation in continuous learning and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of retail, attraction, or customer service experience in a high-visitor volume environment.
- Cash handling
- Ability to work independently under general direction and in a team environment
- Must be dependable, outgoing, dynamic, and enthusiastic with a public speaking background is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with friendly and personable demeanour towards all; embracing the multicultural differences of our staff and guests is a must.
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays (varied hours) and may be required to stand or sit for long hours or work at outdoor events.
- Rate of pay is $17.60 per hour, less applicable statutory deductions.
This is a part-time contract position requiring that you work weekday and weekend hours depending on the exhibition schedule. Standard work hours are 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m, which includes a 30-minute lunch break. Your schedule may vary and you may have the opportunity to work more hours through the participation of off-site exhibitions and public events and programs (e.g. Doors Open, Nuit Blanche).
